Príčiny radikalizácie ľudí sú často skryté v ich podvedomí – v zakorenených stereotypoch, kognitívnych skratkách a omyloch, ktoré ich vedú, resp. zavádzajú k radikálnym názorom.
Zistiť, ktoré kognitívne omyly a skreslenia hrajú rolu a ako pôsobia na radikalizáciu mládeže a najmä poskytnúť odborníkom, pracujúcim s mládežou - prednostne učiteľom, ale aj psychologickým poradcom na školách, sociálnym pracovníkom, či napokon aj rodičom a mladým ľuďom samotným návody, ako sa týchto omylov vyvarovať a tak zmenšovať šancu radikalizácie, bolo predmetom medzinárodného výskumno-osvetového projektu Precobias (Prevention of youth radicalisation through self-awareness on cognigive biases), na ktorom okrem univerzít z Nemecka a Belgicka a ďalších partnerov z Talianska, Poľska a iných krajín participovala aj naša partnerská organizácia Inštitút ľudských práv. Ako FES-Slovensko sme radi podporili slovenskú časť projektu.
Poskytnúť ľuďom, ktorí pracujú s mládežou a sú s ňou v každodennom kontakte zrozumiteľné vysvetlenie toho, ako sa u mladých ľudí tvoria radikálne názory, aké podvedomé mentálne schémy a procesy, rôzne kognitívne skratky a skreslenia tu pôsobia a vedú k radikálnym názorom a ponúknuť návody, ako s nim pracovať, ako ich adresovať a potenciálne neutralizovať považujeme za veľmi zmysluplný spôsob, ako radikalizáciu spoločnosti zmierňovať.
