Európska únia je životným priestorom Slovenska, od vývoja v EÚ sa v zásadnej miere odvíja perspektíva Slovenska, obchodná výmena s partnermi v EÚ je základom ekonomického rozvoja a tým životnej úrovne našich občanov, vzťah slovenskej verejnosti - ale takisto európskej verejnosti - k projektu EÚ sa však mení.
Prečo tomu tak je, čo sú objektívne príčiny a čo umelo a cielene vyvolané nálady a najmä, čo robiť preto, aby EÚ lepšie vedela odpovedať na krízy a výzvy 21. storočia, ale takisto, aby Slovensko bolo prínosom európskeho projektu a v neposlednom rade, aby členstvo v EÚ pomáhalo Slovensku a jeho občanom.
O týchto nie ľahkých otázkach diskutovali hostia tretieho ročníka série Milan Ftáčnik Lecture, na ktorom tento rok okrem iniciátorov a hlavných organizátorov OZ Proforum a FES-SK spolupracovalo aj Rakúske kultúrne fórum. Po úvodnom vystúpení sociálnej reportérky a redaktorky českého portálu Alarm Saši Uhlovej v dvoch paneloch vystúpili Brigita Schmögnerová, bývalá ministerka financií Slovenskej republiky, prezidentka OZ Proforum, Sophia Reisecker, vedúca referátu Európa, Zväzu zamestnancov súkromného sektora Rakúska, Ernst Hillebrand, riaditeľ, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Maďarsko, Ania Skrzypek, riaditeľka pre výskum a tréning Nadácia európskych progresívnych štúdií, Branislav Ondruš, poslanec Európskeho parlamentu, Radovan Geist, vydavateľ, euractiv.sk a Boris Zala, filozof, bývalý poslanec Európskeho parlamentu.
