Inteligentné mestá musia mať okrem inteligentných riešení aj inteligentné rozhodovanie. Inteligentné mestá preto nie sú len o digitalizácii služieb, ale aj o efektívnej verejnej správe a zapojení verejnosti.
Diskusia na Slovensku a v ďalších európskych krajinách sa posunula. Téma inteligentných miest nepokrýva už len technologický pokrok, ale celkovo lepšiu správu vecí verejných. Problematika inteligentných miest tak otvára (staro)nové otázky, ktoré si neodkladne vyžadujú odpovede, práve kvôli tomu, že sa potreba digitalizácie rýchlo stupňuje.
O tom, ako môžu slovenské mestá vylepšiť svoje rozhodovacie procesy sa diskutovalo dňa 21. septembra 2017 v rámci podujatia Stakeholder Brunch, ktoré organizujeme spoločne so Zastúpením Európskej komisie na Slovensku a portálom EurActiv. Slovenské expertky na tému digitalizácie miest Erika Horňanská z Ministerstva dopravy a výstavby SR a Tatiana Kratochílová zo samosprávy bratislavskej mestskej časti Záhorská Bystrica si vymenili skúsenosti na túto tému s holandskými kolegami Sjoerdom Louwaarsom z Leidenskej univerzity a Marcelom Van de Venom zo samosprávy mesta Rotterdam. Diskusiu, ktorú moderoval Pavol Szalai, dolpnila Lívia Vašátková zo Zastúpenia Európskej komisie v SR o európsku perspektívu a veľvyslanec Holandského kráľovstva v SR Henk Cor Van der Kwast slávnostne otvoril podujatie.
