Nemecko-slovenské diplomatické vzťahy sa vyznačujú vysokou kvalitou a kooperáciou, ku ktorým prispievajú aj stretnutia nemecko-slovenskej reflexnej skupiny pozostávajúcej z expertov z obidvoch krajín. Tieto pravidelné stretnutia, ktoré organizujeme spoločne so Slovak Foreign Policy Association a Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, napomáhajú k udržovaniu nadštandardných vzťahov Nemeckej spolkovej republiky a Slovenskej republiky cez vzájomnú výmenu poznatkov k aktuálnym medzinárodným témam.
Tohtoročné stretnutie nemecko-slovenskej reflexnej skupiny sa konalo v dňoch 20.-21. júna 2017 v priestoroch Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik v Berlíne.
Na agende boli štyri hlavné témy, o ktorých nemeckí a slovenskí experti a expertky diskutovali v rámci štyroch panelov. Prvá téma mala za úlohu navrhnúť realistickú podobu zjednotenej dvojrýchlostnej EÚ budúcnosti. Ďalšou témou na agende bolo aktuálne ohrozenie európskej politickej scény kvôli rastúcim volebným preferenciám extrémistických a populistických formácií v jednotlivých členských štátoch. Taktiež bolo v rámci tretieho panelu reflektované bezpečnostné ohrozenie EÚ vyplývajúce z pretrvávajúceho vojnového konfliktu na Ukrajine. Diskutujúci štvrtého panelu – štátny tajomník Slovenskej republiky Ivan Korčok a štátny tajomník Nemeckej spolkovej republiky Michael Roth – na záver reflektovali aktuálne vzťahy medzi SR a BRD so zreteľom na perspektívy spoločnej budúcnosti v rámci zjednotenej a silnej EÚ.
